State of the rebuild and One of these days I will learn to count!

I have some good news and some ... yeah, I donno, it is news.

First the good news!

Pleasantview is 100% operational again, complete with all of the Maxian houses and even a few of the residents. Those houses are not all in the same place they were before, but they are there. Several of my custom houses have also been rebuilt and I believe I have the majority of the crucial build mode CC and a very large portion of the buy mode stuff. I still need to redownload a lot of the clutter, but I plan to do that on an as needed basis.

The not so good news.

With the exception of the sims I have uploaded to dreamwidth, all of my sim back-ups seem to be corrupted. This leaves me with two choices, attempt to rebuild them from scratch or load a really, really old back-up of my game and try extracting them again. I am going to try re-extracting them first obviously, however since I don't know how far back the corruption goes that may not work. It should, because it has obviously worked before when I extracted the sims I do have on Dreamwidth, but I am prepared for it to fail miserably just in case.

A neutral/goodish news depending on how you look at it.

Once I do get all of the sims recreated one way or another most of them will be getting make-overs of varying degrees (except Tybalt because he just had one and it is 100% compliant with the direction I plan to go). Why? Because I previously had an absolutely unmanageable amount of hair and clothing CC. This time around I am being incredibly picky about what I download and things like Lilith's hair in all of it's chunky, funky animating glory do not make the cut.

This brings me to a question.

Is anyone interested in seeing the makeovers as I complete them? I don't mind. You know I am going to be snapping pics anyway, I can't help it and I will probably do a quick "This is what they look like now" post so when I do resume the images in the updates everyone is recognizable. Just curious if there is interest in seeing them as actual makeovers.

Speaking of the updates ... (this might be bad news depending on how you look at it)

I am kind of really enjoying not having to work with the limitations of the game in writing. Things like the chair scene in 6.2 would never have been possible if I had to find a chair to download that would work. This has me thinking when I do resume the images in the updates I will probably have a lot less of them. Aside from the obvious negative of less "pretties" there are benefits to this. 1) I have more freedom to put the characters in more varied situations and 2) I am way less likely to get to the image taking part, look at the number of images I need to stage and get really, really, really bummed out at how overwhelming and daunting that task seems, meaning updates will happen more frequently than before and with less really long breaks in between as has previously happened. (Random Fun fact! There have been an average of 100 images every 2500 words of story.) So when images do return, expect less of them per update and sometimes a scene or two that may not have any at all because if I really want to do a scene that the game will not allow for I won't be reworking it to something the game will allow for anymore.

Further on the subject of the images:

I would really like to have them back, at least one or two by the update after next. That is the goal which I am working toward.

But you knew it couldn't be that easy didn't you?

With the above goal (I really, REALLY want to meet that goal) and with what I still have left to do to get to that point, it could be awhile. I am confident if I was to continue without the images I could have the entire chapter completed within two weeks and probably even have my game up and running to the point I could get those few images I really want to include, except, the goats, delightful little shitheads that they are threw me a bit of a curve ball when I went to put them to bed this evening. I have been planning on about 3-4 weeks until they are due to give birth. I have been planning wrong and they made that abundantly clear in their visual development this evening. They only have about 14 days left to go (give or take of course). I will admit this is entirely my screw up in that I somehow mentally messed up the dates. Still have to fit the things I planned to complete in 24 days into the next 14. If I am lucky they will be of the late delivery inclination and I will still have that 24 days. In case they are of the early delivery inclination though things around here are about to get very, very busy and will continue to be so even after the new arrivals.

I am excited because baby goats are one of the cutest things I have ever seen and baby dwarf goats are bound to be cutter still, but kind of really disappointed on the writing front. I enjoy writing and I enjoy sharing what I write. The goats obviously are the priority though.

To sum up what is a way longer post than I intended. The rebuild is going well even taking into account the few issues with corrupt back-ups. Things are going to look different, but shouldn't be drastically so, because I am being a lot more picky about what I download this time. I am curious if people want to see the make-overs as they happen. I will be including significantly less images when I do return to updates with the images and finally, I am probably going to seem to disappear again for a bit. I won't actually be disappearing, just not posting/commenting much because cuteness is on the way and will then need to be spoiled rotten.
