I have only just gotten a lighting mod to work in my game. You have no idea how ridiculously happy this makes me. You saw the first signs of it in the first sequence of the last Pleasantries update.
All those fun, funky shadows that gave Ripp all that yummy "OMG, when did he start looking like THAT?" muscle tone? (Yes, It surprises the hell out of me too! Still!) Totally thanks to the lighting mod. His boxers are on a mesh that is very similar in proportions to the Henley he usually wears. The waist is slightly thicker but the chest and arm dimensions are practically identical. Yes, I am that picky. He has an entire wardrobe that will ensure no drastic body shape differences no matter what clothing state he needs to be in, They all do. (meet my anal-retentiveness, it has it's own small country. Just don't look too closely at the images from the last sequence of that update, those are old and I REALLY didn't feel like redoing them. All images from here on out will be consistent).
Lighting mod installation, not all that hard right? Ummm, yeah. You'd be surprised.
However! Lighting mod working! I am loving it.
That is not entirely true, there is one aspect I am not loving at all. Tel's fricken eyes are driving me nuts. That glowly thing that has been mentioned and the colour shift they do on occasion (which I am sure is way more obvious to me than it is to everyone else)? They just do that. Sure I fiddled around to figure out what exactly made them do it and how I could get them to do certain things when I wanted them to instead of randomly like they had been doing. If they are going to do it anyway I might as well make use of it right?
With the lighting mod in place they are now still doing it, but in all new ways. They don't glow when they used to anymore and I can't seem to make sense of when they do. The colour shift is happening way more often. Again I can't make sense of that either. I will. I just haven't yet. So for the next few updates in regards to Tel's eyes, if you happen to be someone who even noticed them in the first place, he's having a few issues. If you didn't notice in the first place, carry on as usual.
I am still getting used to how the light plays around on things now (omg! Physics! YAY!) and I have noticed things are looking a little off on occasion. Wider than they probably should be, shorter, taller, skewed a bit, that sort of thing. I think (totally uneducated guess work) this has something to do with my usual screwy camera angles and the world now being a lot less flat.
I am noticing a lot of things just looking off in the pictures for this next update. There is a lot of light at work for some of these shots. I am redoing a lot of the shots because of things just looking off. Some of it I am managing to work out. Some I still haven't figured out. I am just really glad I decided to shift location on key moments from where I originally had it planned *whimper*. If I'd left it I could be here a while!
Close-ups look way better now though so you can expect more of those!
Anyway, now that I am finished rambling. If you notice things looking different in the world of Pleasantries, now you know why. I'm excited about it! If you don't notice, hey, that's great too. In any case I just want you to be enjoying the story :D
