Why do I do this again?
Jun. 23rd, 2011 06:38 pmSo, working on the update for Chasing Daylight two days ago when my game crashed ... this is not all that unusual. So I restart and ... my game won't load ... on any User Account.
Well shit.
Quick reinstall and drop in my back-ups of my hoods and downloads. Game now loads, but I have a jump bug.
What?
It all worked fine until the crash, but now I have a pie menu over wall hangings and (weirdly) OMSPs with the options to View ... and View.
I should not be able to "View" OMSP and further every time I mouse over a wall hanging or OMSP the active sim resets, a few seconds later ALL sims on the lot reset.
Okay this is bad.
I spent all of yesterday, over 12 hours hunting for that bug. Cleaned out absolutely everything I didn't need, made sure I had the latest versions of all mods and finally narrowed it down to 25 files ...
... At which point the bug mysteriously resolved itself!
I had been removing half the files at a time and confirming the bug was still present in the files that were left and then, suddenly, it was gone without removing anything else.
Much grumbling later, all CC is back in the game and ... still no bug! WTF?
Chalk it up to weirdness and press on.
Back in the game finish up the scene I had been working on go to move on to the next scene. This scene needs Rein.
Go to teleport Rein in and ... I have no Villega family.
The. Entire. Family. Is. GONE! They have been reduced to an empty house.
I lost them. (Queue Mathew strangling me because "You LOST Telesto!?!!!" ... and by extension Ripp too because he has lived with them since ... before Tel was born.)
Why do I do this? Someone remind me why I do this.
On the upside I did find Rein ... buried way in the back of the "default" menu on the teleporter, you know that place all the dead sims and untouchable NPC's go? Yeah, there. No sign of the rest of them yet, but I am remaining hopeful. I think I am out of time on that hood rebuild.
