I have nothing to contribute - I hope you manage and the sympthoms won't be hard on you.
I know something about risky surgeries - the decisions are very hard. I'd recommend researching and looking through message boards, speaking with doctors and patients. If you can post-pone a definitive decision till you absolutely sure it would be better. I was on a waiting list for a back sugery but I'd lose some of my mobility and there was a risk I'd land in a chair - bailed.
