Binky's Bend - Week 1 Part 1

Binky: Cut the crap and just get on with it.

Rythe: Hey. I want to hear the crap. I have to live here you know.

He knows Rythe, he knows.

Usually this is where I would start setting up the story, because you know I have one. This time though I am just going to jump right in with both feet. Mathew and I have worked out a way to share his computer for me to sim on occasionally and I plan to take advantage of it. So, without any further "crap":


Welcome to my Build A City Challenge ... Sort of.

Why sort of? Well aside from the general screwing around with the rules that I posted about  here, I have done a bit more screwing around with things. Like lost the gender divided list of townies. I am still randomizing everyone's gender pref at teenifying, only now, when a sim is rolling to pick their spouse they are stuck with what they get. If the gender prefs don't match up, oh well!

There are 32 sims (excluding Binky) in the gene pool to start this challenge. No more will be added from CAS. Ever. It is up to these 32 to populate the town.

I also rolled for the co-founders out of the gene pool instead of making them specifically to be co-founders. It seemed more fun that way. Give me that whole "I have no idea what is going on or if this is even going to work" feeling right from the start.

In addition the founders have been divided into two teams. These teams (and their descendants) will be competing to reach a population of 25 000. First team to hit the 25 000 mark wins. I don't know what they win, Binky and I are still working that out. They will win something.

Time to meet the founders, yes?

 

First up (because they rolled the smaller number) Team Rythe!

Team Rythe includes Felix Kemp. Felix is a money loving Aries who has had the wonderful luck to roll up robotics as his career. :D I detect aspiration failure already.

The other half of Team Rythe is Rythe Villega, better known as Tel's Dad. Rythe brought his Pleasantries personality with him for this and is a Knowledge Scorpio who rolled Mechanic as his career.

Both founding members of Team Rythe have selected careers which require electricity ... I see a lot of painting in their future.



Over on the other side we have Team Winston.

The Team namesake is of course Winston Talbot, Lilith's tutor from Pleasantries. Winston is a Capricorn, baby loving, bookworm (knowledge is his secondary, but you probably wouldn't know it) who rolled artist/writer as a career. His starting interests decided he would be a novelist. Way to go Winston, that actually makes sense for you. You still have to wait for electricity though.

Rounding out the founders, representing Team Winston is Amie Harrell, another baby lover, only Libra this time. Amie also rolled artist/writer as a career. Like a smart girl though, her starting interests lean more toward painting than writing. Go Amie! You can get started on your career right away.

Mixed into the gene pool is a very select group of sims who have their spouses preselected for them. Why? Because they very much have OTP in my head and this is my challenge :P

Winston and Rythe both belong to that small group and thus managed to dodge the incompatible spouse bullet. Amie and Felix on the other hand .... hehe .. just watch!




This I like to see! Last time I tried something like this both sets of founders hated each other. That was not fun in the early days.




This is something you will probably be seeing a lot of. The gene pool is made up of 9 families (more or less. The strays got absorbed into new families here and there. Like in this hood Lilith is a Grunt and Ripp's sister because no other Pleasants were coming with her) and when it is wedding/betrothal time all family members and friends come over to witness the event.

That should be fun further down the line shouldn't it? :P





Yay! I seriously have a whole alternate story in my head for these two where Lyla didn't die and left Buzz taking the boys with her. Allow me to bask for a moment in the satisfaction that is watching Lyla Grunt become Lyla Villega. *sigh*

Okay, basking done.





Sooooooooo. This is the first betrothal in Binky's Bend. The spouse to be is Casey Harrell (yup, Amie's little brother) who brings his Gemini personality and a whole heap of questions to the union.

What will happen when Casey transitions? What will his gender pref be? (Felix rolled Bi so no worries there) Compatible aspirations? Will they even get along?





So far, so good. Keep that up guys!





And then I kicked everyone out, had Rythe send all excess funds to Binky and built them a house ... okay  I built them a box with a porch. Pretend it is a house.





And the result of the first thing Rythe and Lyla do in the box with a porch is in the top corner there *sigh*. They could have waited a few days. Given us all some time to settle in, make some money ... have running water, electricity, a stove!

You are my founders guys. Drama is not good for my sanity with founders. I better see some cuddling when Casey is old enough!





And we have our first broken item! Rythe will be fixing that as soon as he wakes up. Gotta get in those Mechnical points and Tinkering enthusiasm.





And there is painting going on. Lots and lots of painting.

This image is not here for me to squee at. It is here to point out something that is irking me. I seem to have picked up a set of default skins that have male body hair attached, which is okay, I have no issue with the guys having some hair. I have issues when it looks like someone attempted to draw a pelt on them with a sharpie though! Seriously, the site of naked men in my game is not a pretty thing right now. I must find new maxis match default replacements.

Also ... SQUEEEE!





Felix does this a lot. His fun tanks faster than Lyla's bladder right now. I don't get it. He enjoys juggling though, so juggle he does.





While everyone else paints.





When he is not juggling he is talking, in this case to Winston ... about fashion. Winston is not a fan of fashion despite appearance to the contrary in the shot above.





Winston is a fan of going to the neighbour's to stare at the pregnant lady in her underwear ...





Lyla: Shooflea! And he's still staring at me, you just can't see him in this shot.

Yea, yeah, get to the bump expansion already.





And don't make that face when the bump does get bigger. It creeps me out.





Oh! oh! OH! have I been worrying for nothing?





Guardian Angel! I actually really enjoy this feature. It is adorable to watch her go around to check on everyone and tuck in babies and toddlers.

I will have to get pics if she ever stops by when there is a baby or toddler. Also must get pics of the little people. I have not seen them in my game yet, but when I do! Pic spam!





Lyla has settled into a routine of making sandwiches rather than painting. It is odd. She makes a platter of sandwiches, serves them, eats one put the leftovers away, takes a bath, uses the toilet, naps on the couch and then goes and makes another platter of sandwiches.





Oh! Look! Felix is painting instead of juggling!

And Lyla is going to have a baby. Figures, she was actually on her way to bed this time and not to nap on the couch. Carry on Lyla.




And this is Alana Villega. Who will promptly disappear from these pictures (except maybe once ... on the floor) and pop up again when she starts doing interesting things. Because babies are boring.





This is not boring!

This celebratory manhandling is in honour of Rythe finishing his umpteenth Master Piece painting and as soon as he sells it they will have the money for ...

Electricity! Showers! How I have missed you!





And with the new phone Rythe calls up Rein to do some quick relationship boosting.





Woot! 100/75! Ask her Rythe! Ask her!




Yes! And she didn't bring more money than they can keep!





Right. So this again. Rein is not a member of that small select group who has an OTP so Rein had to roll. First she rolled for her career and got sewing meaning I officially love her to death for saving me from the locked clothing restriction as soon as she gets sewing up.

Then she rolled for a spouse.





Meet Candace Sellar.

Candace is a Romance/Capricorn  who will be joining Rein in sewing because spouses married in out of the gene pool take on the profession of the person they are marrying.





Everything was going well. They had compatible gender preferences and everything!





It should have been a sign.

*headdesk*





I think my expression while watching Rein pick a fight with her new wife kind of matched Caelan's.





Oh yeah. This is not going to go well.





Winston: Seriously? Must this happen in EVERY hood you put him in?

It seems it must, yes.





Two hours after the ceremony and several conversations with Rythe later the girls might actually be getting along!





!!! They ARE getting along!





And this is where the thought occurs: If things keep going smoothly the karma fairy is going to bite me in the ass later with impossibly difficult situations.

Bring it on Karma Fairy. I'm waiting.





Only two badge levels to go and growing up into horrible clothes will not be an issue!





Rythe is hard at work on his first restored car as well.

I would like to take this moment to point out that I did get Felix a robotics station. He hasn't touched it. Or much of anything really. I am starting to think he's a closet Pleasure sim.




YAY! Alana isn't boring anymore!

And in only 24 more hours (because I am totally going to use that cake as soon as it will work) I can stop stressing about Casey.





It is getting a bit crowded around here.

Oh. What's this?





WOOT! They can wish for money! And they are going to need it what with Lyla and Rythe seeming to think it is up to them alone to reach 25 000.





Rein is not celebrating wishing for money, Rein is just THAT type.

Also, Felix doesn't think Alana is boring anymore either.





*whimper* I am not looking forward to this.





Seriously. I have no idea how it got to be soooo important that these two have a good relationship.





Felix seems to approve.




Huh. Well this certainly looks promising for them making this work ... *remember to give Felix stubble ... and maybe glasses*




Must we do the cake thing first? The suspense is killing me.

Casey: Yes. Cake first then .... maybe.





Okay, cake is done ... where is he going? What is he doing? GAH! Seriously, I do not know how this got so important!





Oh .... Maybe?? maybe ....





YES!




And they cuddle too! *happy dance!*

This was interesting but please explain a couple of things to me - hi Caelen & Tel - OK...the boys you had get joined. Ummm...wasn't the younger one a child and the older one a teen? How did you do that?

Lol I knew you'd marry Lyla to Rhythe - forgive my misspellings - in one of your worlds and yes they make an adorable couple. XD guess they couldn't wait on expanding their family line either.

Hey when you're a writer almost everything turns into a story, on purpose or not.

Yes, Casey was a child and Felix a teen. That is accomplished the same way every joining will be happening in this challenge. With this (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=99b7cbd82e5cb50e1bec72107e6d7662&topic=8196.0) arch.

It lets two sims (any two sims, as long as they are on the same lot) marry regardless of age or relationship. They don't even need to have met before! It is a wonderful little mod for all sorts of situations like historical hoods, arranged marriages, and "mail order bride" type things. Or, you know, times when you roll a di and they are stuck with whomever comes up ... age be damned. Obviously it does NOT allow for romantic interactions with children (thank gods!). It just adds the married/joined flag.

I really should write out the Pleasantries version of the Rythe and Lyla story. I keep getting the feeling that it would fill in a lot of holes if I did.

That's what I'll do! If the urge to story pops up on me I will fill it with the Rythe/Lyla back story. *nod*

Oh my god...I just went back and re-read this because of some stuff in the next update - the 3rd one, not the 2nd one - that I'll comment on in a second - I didn't understand how some stuff was happening.

#1 - I did not notice Rein before - and didn't you have her name spelled differently or am I being an idiot? 0.o

#2 - Ok, the dark-skinned girl is her wife; duly noted

#3 - Ah, Rhythe got ass probed when you didn't need any more probing going on considering he'd done a fair amount with his dear wife.

Now to go to the other and give my current statements :)
