Welcome back LJ? Maybe? My ability to post is certainly looking promising, now if my email would stop pitching a hissy fit all will be good.

So I disappeared for the last three days and I would love to say I am back with an update for Pleasantries. I'm not. It is closer though! I have been intermittently working on the images for the last few days, working out the technical issues I mentioned. It's good. Part 5 is almost complete and part 6 will not be too far behind.

Where have I been?

Banjo cat has a sinus infection.

Not sure where she got it, or how, just that she has it. She is 18 years old and does not like to take her medication! Actually she is 18 years old and pretty much gets away with doing whatever she wants to do out of sheer cranky old lady status. She had to take her medication.

Through a combination of the stuffy nose not letting her smell anything and being PO'd with me for the "syringe of evil crap" she stopped eating for several days.

I have spent the last three days pureeing cat food, chicken broth and vitamins in a not-so-Magic Bullet so it can be warmed to just below scorching hot in the hope that it will reek enough to get through her stuffy nose and she will eat something. Sometimes it even works. When it doesn't it is a whole other evil syringe because she refuses to settle enough anywhere but at home to get any rest which lets out leaving her with the vet.

I will admit it. More than once in the past few days I have thought it would be kinder to put her down. She's old, arthritic and really couldn't afford to not eat for one day much less several. There were times she was so lethargic I thought the decision had become a moot point. Then she wakes up from a nap and bitches me out (Very loudly!) because her food is not already warmed and waiting for her.

I don't think she's ready to go yet.

This is Banjo bather of baby bunnies, cuddler of birds. Banjo who drove me nuts when we lived in Florida by dropping completely unharmed live lizards at my feet every day after watching me rescue lizards from the other cat.

She is odd. I am going to miss her when her time comes and it is coming. I don't think this is it but I can see that it is close.

Is it wrong that I am hoping she goes peacefully in her sleep one day? I'm not sure I am capable of it if it does come to the point where I have to make that decision.

I'm so sorry to hear that Banjo is sick. I really hope she gets better. I know how finicky a sick cat can be. :( You've had a lot of good years with her, and she knows it too. *hugs* for both of you.

My kitty died a couple of years ago, she was Banjo's age, and I wish I had brought her to the vet for easy quick ending because she didn't go peacefully in her sleep.
Anyway lots of sympathy in these painful times, and keep us posted.
