Haas 3.





Bearing no reference to the Haas effect, Haas 3 was named for being the third planet in this system orbiting the Haas star, which itself was named by the time honoured process of depositing a collection of stones, each with a single engraved letter, into a salad bowl and drawing one letter at a time until a vaguely pronounceable series of letters is arrived at. Yes, a salad bowl. The creatures responsible for the naming of this system do not wear hats. You will see why in a moment. They are, however, extremely fond of salads.





Located at the far reaches of the galaxy this former mining colony has been left abandoned for a very, very long time. I say abandoned, though really there is one resident.





Here he comes now.





This is Sezic. I am sure you can see why his species don’t wear hats.

Sezic is in exile. Why? Who knows. Sezic claims he has been in exile so long he has forgotten what he did to earn that status in the first place. Personally, I think he just doesn’t want to share.





His species is very long lived. Incredibly so. He is no longer sure how long he has been here as somewhere around the beginning of the sixth century there was a minor explosion in his makeshift laboratory. The explosion demolished the wall he had been making his daily tally marks on. As a result, Sezic no longer tinkers with chemistry … or physics because D-I-Y nuclear fission is more trouble than it is worth.

Sezic has adapted well to his new life here on Haas 3. Under the terms of his exile, Sezic is not permitted to leave the surface of the planet. He is to have no contact with any others of his species and the planet itself has been flagged as a 'no fly' zone by Sezic's people.

All things considered, he has done quite well for himself with building his home from materials left behind when the mines were shut down.





His patchwork dwelling has several architectural features that would appeal to the most discerning of tastes, though perhaps with the addition of a little paint.





His living space is comfortable, if spartan.





He has fashioned himself a serviceable area in which to practice his culinary skills. He has gotten quite good at making gourmet meals from the local resources. This has lead to his new found philosophy of ‘Given enough time, anything is edible’ and he has time.

Sezic is intelligent. He is resourceful. He is inventive. Sezic is …





“Bored.”





“All I do, day after day is invent new and increasingly less productive ways to waste time. I am out of ways to waste time! I have even taken up interior decorating. Look!”





It is *ehem* beautiful.

“Do not mock the decorating choices of a man with limited fabric options.”

We aren’t mocking. The Biohazard sign is a nice touch and I am loving the pillow with the little hearts. It suits you.





“You are a cruel, evil person. Did you know that?”





“Bored! You don’t understand. The same thing, all day, every day, over and over and over and over and I just want to scream! I’m bored. Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored! I need something else to do! Someone to talk to. Something!”

You could talk to the servo.





“That’s not even a little bit funny.”





“Sir? Won’t you please reconsider coming inside? I do believe it is going to rain and you remember what happened last time I sat out with you in the rain. No? Well then, where was I? Oh yes! And then that creature with the horns appeared again. I am not sure what sort of creature it is, but it is incredibly resilient. All my attempts to exterminate it have failed. Did you know you can spray pesticide directly in its face and it will have no negative effects? All my efforts to trap it have failed as well. It is this creature that keeps you outside isn’t it? You are afraid of it aren’t you, Sir? It has you paralyzed with fear. Very well, I will double my efforts to remove the creature from your home and prevent further infestation.”





“Aside from being completely off its pistons, It is trying to kill me.”





“Admittedly, for the first eighty or ninety years its attempts did make things more interesting around here, but now the novelty has worn off and it is just really annoying.”

Then why do you keep fixing it when it breaks?





“Did I mention I was bored?”





“I wanted to get a little bird for my little bird cage. A pet would keep me company. So I went looking to see what I could find.”





“That found me and thought I looked tasty.”

Nice. You even bronzed it.





“No. That is the colour it always was.”

Okay then.





“I scrounged together the parts to construct a television so I could once again watch all of the shows I cherished so dearly. I have so many fond memories of my favourite programs.”





“And there is no television signal this far out in the galaxy.”





“I have even been painting, but really, how many times can you paint mushrooms and keep it interesting?”





“I want company, a friend. Someone I can talk to and laugh with and just have them be here.”





“I want someone to play legos with because building stuff all by yourself is no fun.”

It sounds more like what you really want is a family.

“Yeah, I guess.”





“But how do I do that? There is no one else here and even if they were I am not allowed contact with my own species. I can’t leave …”





“Oh.”

Sezic? Is everything alright?

“It’s so simple. Of course. Why didn’t I think of it before?”

Think of what?





Sezic?!

“Can’t talk, gotta build.”





“And I won’t need that, or that. I don’t even know what that is … Hey. I have a sign. Huh. Did not know that and I don’t need it …”

My favorite Maxis premade sims are Julien Cooke and Chester Gieke. I also like Lloyd McGregor and Christian Love and whatisname Makoto -- I guess those last two are not regular playables. Until last week when I installed Alfie's default skins I was pretty alarmed by the female sims, though, so I don't know them very well. Who knew that adding a few little details to the rarely-seen parts would turn a scary thing into a cozy thing?

Anyway, if Sezic's going to teleport in Maxis sims and impregnate them, Julien and Chester produce skinny faces, but cute.
