*Poof* No eyebrows!
Oct. 14th, 2011 09:44 pmIf anyone actually got the title of this post - we need to talk!
Anyway, I have been missing again, and I am going to tell you right now, NONE of what I have been doing was sims related. :( So if you have absolutely no interest in the rest of my life, it's okay. Just don't click the cut. I won't even hold it against you.
Part of the reason for lack of sims is LJ is still fucked up. Though I hear that is only applying to a very "lucky few" (yay me for being one of them!) It. Is. Fucked. And I am in no hurry to post anything sims related because of that. The formatting style I usually use for posting story updates is heavily reliant on LJ being not fucked up. So instead I have been focusing on ... having a life. (I know! It scares me too!) Namely, getting my mommy's retirement job out of the dark ages. *nod* (and putting that degree I never use to work ... cause, you know, I might as well ...)

I surprised the hell out of myself with this one because it seems I actually remember (vaguely) how to draw. She also now has nifty new carton labels (complete with recipes, tyvm) and a website and pamphlets explaining such things as why the birds are fed GMO-Free food (seems a lot of people here haven't got a clue what GMOs are or how common and potentially scary it is) and the soon to be in production BLUE eggs. Also hours of research into redesigning the chicken coops to be more easily maintained (with the side bonus of self producing yet one more commodity Mom can put to use) and building a more permanent structure for her to actually sell the eggs and produce from. The challenge there has been working out how to do all of this using recycled/reclaimed material, she wants to be as "green" as possible about all of this, and while I can't say I blame her, the "no new material" mandate has been ... awkward.
The part I am psyched about though is the goats! Not because I actually like goats (I know next to nothing about them, aside from the crash course in goat care and health I have received recently) and she doesn't have them here yet either, but ... Sod roof! I have always loved sod roofs. They make sense, are incredibly environmentally sound (when constructed properly) and look really cool! I am going to have fun with this project.
Then there was the assisting the child with her business plan and getting her set up as officially "in business" (I have a super happy 10yo right now. I'm proud of her, she has worked her butt off to get here and shown one hell of a lot of initiative).
And that is why I haven't done anything with sims. Still here though, and still have ideas circulating around in my head for a rainy day .. which they tell me is coming so ... :D

Date: 2011-10-15 05:31 am (UTC)Speaking of birds, are you still raising um...oh gosh, what were those birds? quail?
Why are you having so much trouble with LJ? D: LJ's been running ok. Are you formatting DIRECTLY into the journal area? I forget how you told me you do your layouts and stuff when updating.
Good for your daughter making as much progress as her mommy *gives you both gold stars*
Ok, now I'm going to bed like I swore I was going about 15 mins ago >> *skitters away*

Date: 2011-10-17 08:38 am (UTC)LJ, has decided it does not need to keep my formatting. It can, will and does strip out all of my HTML which means for things like paragraphs to appear I have to put them in in the RTE ... which only sometimes works and will only let me edit existing entries about half the time. Very frustrating!
And yup, still raising the quail. Have 36 more eggs in the incubator right now due to hatch on the 20th. Then the poor thing (incubator) gets a month or two break ... before we start on the chickens and pheasants ... *headdesk*

Date: 2011-10-17 08:55 am (UTC)I am looking forward to the goats. I have been talking to those I know with experience and they all say the same thing "the day you don't think twice about leaning over and dropping a kiss on the fuzzy head is coming!" of course at this point I am running the list of human communicable disease goats carry through my head going ... yeah ... NO! But I have a horrible suspicion they might be right. :/

Date: 2011-10-17 09:00 am (UTC)It's good though. I can't explain it, calming? Yeah that is probably close to the right word, so I am really not complaining :D
