Kate needs to talk more
Apr. 5th, 2012 01:00 amThis is typing though, but still. I have been told I am becoming reclusive so here I am, to talk, to people who are not doctors (at least not my doctors) or don't live in the same house with me.
Only problem is, I have no idea what to talk about. Kind of a downside to not really doing much, not much to talk about.
Lets see, there was the "cake adventure" for the Rat-Brat's birthday where this

Turned into ...

'Nough said there. >:(
Also it rained for a week straight prior to her birthday, like it always does, turning the lawn into mud but we can't fit that many people into the house so ... mud-b-q! The ribs were good though. At least I think they were. I put in an order for "Mother presents" of a bottle of tequila ... I got three and a bottle of Bailey's and a case of beer. The child got new paint in all the colours she was out of, palette knives (thrilled over that) and a sweet new computer because I am (her words) "the most awesome mom ever!"
What else?
Oh! This! Probably the best $30 I have ever spent on myself. The sound quality is amazing for such a small, inexpensive 2.1 system.
And this. I hate ergonomic keyboards, they are awkward and annoying and the hand positioning hurts something fierce. This one doesn't. It makes typing less painful, not more.
And then I was given this and three notebooks to go with it by someone who never used it. Sadly they are no longer in production but it has put me in the market for these once the ink runs out. For those times I can't sit anymore and my arms are feeling like them falling off would be a step up in the world. I can go hide in the dark and write away in the notebooks with a pen large enough to easily hold onto. Then later, back at my computer just plug the pen in and upload everything I have written to a word doc. Not good for extended writing because my arms won't do extended writing, but for jotting down plot notes or scene snippets that float through my head in the middle of the night/as the headache starts to lessen and my brain functions again, it is great. Also for doodles which I can later open up in photoshop or SAI and finish with my tablet. If/When I do get to the point where writing with a pen and paper is an option I will be all over the Livescribe. I much prefer writing things out on paper first, I just loathe later typing them up. I have boxes of notebooks with 3/4 finished stories in storage I never did anything else with simply because I don't like typing in things I have already written. With one of these I don't have to. I like that.
On the LJ specific front, I am way behind ... no one is really surprised there are they? I have a ton of catching up to do with the F-list and a couple short snippets I have written to share. I think those will be up in the next week or so, just need to edit them.
And that is pretty much all I have been up to. *nod* Yes, I need more interesting hobbies. I'm working on it! :p

Date: 2012-04-05 02:44 pm (UTC)I'm still using your pretty designs in my game. I'm just fortunate the repo man didn't claim it when he came for the 2nd time due to my negligence in forgetting to have them pay their bills. Xp have you thought about painting anymore of late? :)

Date: 2012-04-05 06:11 pm (UTC):D everyone (even me!) is skeptical about the keyboard design until they try it. The wave ii has in it (both the horizontal and the vertical) fit nearly perfectly the the natural curve your fingertips have when in a relaxed typing position and that wrist rest, seriously, padded and set just right to let you reach the entire main typing area without having to "reach" for anything. The only person who hasn't liked it yet was Mathew but his hands are huge and he said it was "A little cramped but not terrible" :p
The pen is as awesome as it sounds (Helped a lot by the built in MP3 player). Also has several dictionaries available and a ton of other apps as well. I am really looking forward to upgrading (once I have saved up for it) because I hear the Livescribe is even better and has a lot more apps as well.
A hobby? Yeah, I donno. I have a nasty tendency to turn "hobbies" into "professions". I need to stop that! (No one let me try to sell writing please! Ever. I need something I like that I don't do to make a living.) I haven't painted anything with real paint in months and I miss it. Still digital painting with my tablet though, so I guess that counts.

Re: hobbies - oh hell no! It is my personal pledge to myself to never turn fun into work bc I know the moment I do I wont want to do it anymore :(
Re: painting - well at least you're doing SOME form of it even if its not the "old-fashioned" way :)
